Differences between glacial acetic acid and acetic acid

1、 Differences between glacial acetic acid and acetic acid:

Glacial acetic acid(CAS 64-19-7) abbreviation GAA.The difference between glacial acetic acid and acetic acid is that GAA(CAS 64-19-7) is pure acetic acid, a pure substance, and acetic acid is generally a mixture. Acetogenin is a synthetic vinegar. Its main component is acetic acid (i.e. acetic acid), which is diluted with edible glacial acetic acid. Acetaminophen has a strong sour taste due to its high concentration of acetic acid, so it should be diluted when used; Generally, the acetic acid content shall not exceed 3-4%. Acetic acid, also known as acetic acid (36% – 38), GAA (98%), chemical formula CH3COOH, is an organic monobasic acid, which is the source of sour taste and pungent smell in vinegar.

Anhydrous acetic acid has a melting point of 16.6, which is much higher than the freezing point of water, that is, it can solidify into a solid at not too low temperature (it will be ice like crystal when the temperature is lower than 16.6), so anhydrous acetic acid is also called glacial acetic acid. Glacial acetic acid is also the name of anhydrous acetic acid. Same as glacial acetic acid.

2、 Effect of glacial acetic acid:

1. It is used as an acidity regulator, acidifier, pickling agent, flavoring agent, perfume, etc. It is mainly used for compound seasoning, wax preparation, canned food, cheese, jelly, etc.2. When it is used in flavoring, acetic acid can be diluted into 4%~5% solution with water, and then added to various flavorings for use.

3. Chlorhexidine acetate, also known as chlorhexidine acetate solution, has antibacterial and disinfection effects. The main active ingredient is chlorhexidine acetate. The drug is an antibacterial drug. It has antibacterial effect at low concentration and bactericidal effect at high concentration. Chlorhexidine has antibacterial effect on many pathogenic bacteria.

4. GAA(CAS 64-19-7) has antibacterial, antifungal, antipruritic and cutin dissolving effects, and 1% GAA(CAS 64-19-7) aqueous solution is used for antipruritic.

To sum up, the difference between glacial acetic acid and acetic acid lies in the material form. Acetic acid is generally a liquid at 20 ℃ and a solid at 16 ℃, which is also called GAA.
