The identification method of 2-chloropropene and 3-chloropropene

The molecular structure of 2-chloropropene is C3H5Cl, the relative molecular mass is 76.52, and it is a colorless gas or liquid. The relative density is 0.918 (9°C), the melting point is -137.4°C, and the boiling point is 22.65°C.
It is obtained by fractional distillation from the mixture of 1-chloropropene and 2-chloropropene produced at the same time by the action of an alcoholic solution of 1,2-dichlorinated propene and potassium hydroxide. Used as an intermediate in organic synthesis

Identification of 2-chloropropene and 3-chloropropene

It can be identified using an alcoholic solution of silver nitrate. 1-Chloropropane can produce white silver chloride precipitation after heating, 2-chloropropene can produce white precipitate after a while, and 3-chloropropene is difficult to produce white precipitate. It can be identified according to the speed of precipitation. The activity of nucleophilic substitution reaction between halogenated hydrocarbons and silver nitrate alcohol solution is used for identification here. Generally, the first-order halogenated hydrocarbons need to be heated to produce precipitation, the second-order halogenated hydrocarbons will precipitate after a while, and the tertiary halogenated hydrocarbons will precipitate immediately.
